Statera Energy Operations retains status as a REFCOM F-Gas certified company following official audit

Once again, we've secured REFCOM F-Gas certification – reinforcing our position as a market leader in safe, compliant HVAC and fire safety system management across energy storage sites. Huge credit to Chris Brown and the team for delivering a smooth audit and driving smarter, more efficient operations through best-in-class tools.

Congratulations to Chris Brown, our head of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), for successfully completing our recent Register of Companies Competent to Manage refrigerants (REFCOM) on-site audit and retaining our F-Gas certification.

REFCOM runs the UK’s leading  F-Gas certification scheme. Through partnerships with the Environment Agency and DEFRA, it ensures F-Gas handling companies like ours meet legal requirements to reduce the environmental risks of these greenhouse gases.

As a REFCOM F-Gas certified company, we’ve demonstrated that we:

Have procedures in place to safely handle and dispose of F-Gases.

Employ enough qualified engineers to safely manage and dispose of any F-Gases we work with.

Carry out all required checks on our HVAC maintenance tools and equipment, including gauges and scales.

Routinely check that our refrigerant handling engineers – including our HVAC and fire safety teams – have the appropriate personal F-Gas qualifications.

We maintain and repair HVAC and fire suppression systems in battery storage containers, both of which contain F-Gases,” Chris explains. “So, F-Gas certification is a legal requirement. No certificate, no site access – it’s that simple. There are other certificate issuers, but REFCOM is the gold standard and holding it sets us apart in the market. It also means we’re listed on REFCOM’s online company search directory, meaning businesses can easily identify us as an F-Gas certified company.”

Statera Energy Operations also uses REFCOM’s F-Gas tracking and compliance software to coordinate engineering work and further streamline systems and processes. “Developed in partnership with Joblogic, [the software] makes HVAC maintenance far more efficient. My engineers know the scope of work before they get on site and ensure they have the correct tools,” Chris says.

This is important because successful HVAC repair and battery site maintenance in the power generation sector depend on planning and coordination. “Having completed the work, they input all the relevant information into the app on their phone or tablet, automatically populating our online logbooks and back-office systems. This saves time and avoids errors – making it easier to demonstrate adherence to all F-Gas handling and disposal regulations. It should also make our next renewal and audit even more straightforward,” Chris concludes.

Our REFCOM certification number is REF1021204, and you can view our full profile via this link https://www.refcom.org.uk/refcom-register.
